March 2014 GCS Brighton AGM Meeting
The AGM was held on 23rd March 2014 at the Swaminarayan Temple, we are pleased to inform you that it went very successfully, with a good turnout of members. We had compliments from the members on the hard work done by the committee members. We had a few new members on board, and had resignations from Mrs Meera Bharadava and Miss Hemali Patel. The following members were elected as office bearers. Election of officials: Mr Dhirajal Lamba, 119 Portland Road, Hove BN5 5DP (01273 735515) re-elected as President. Mr Jignesh Agnihotri, 1 Mill Rise, Brighton BN1 5GD (01273 275710) elected as Vice President. Mr Mahindra Chauhan, 4 Lodge Court,Shoreham-by-Sea BN43 5NU (01273 464139) elected as Secretary with Devesh Patel as Joint Secretary. Mr Pravinchandra Limbachia, 12 Western Road, Hove, BN3 1AH (01273 772955) remain as Treasurer with Joint Treasurer Ramanbhai Shah. Mr Chandrakat Metha as Public Relations,BMECP. Dr Amrut C Shah and Mr Ramanbhai Shah remain as Trustee. Enterainment :Hamirbhai Thakariya. Catering Committee: Manjulaben Shah, Dansukbhai Patel and Hamirbhai Thakariya. Other committee members: Anilbhai Patel. Co-Opted Members: Dr Milan Jani, Mrs Asmitaben Jani, Mrs Ramaben Patel, Mrs Kalaben Shah, Virjibhai Rupani

Cancer Talk – Focusing on Cervical, Breast and Bowel
Cancer talk – focusing on cervical, breast and bowel (so also partly relevant for men if you want to bring any along). Venue – South Portslade Community Centre, Church Rd. BN41 1LU Deliverer – Margaret Felton, Health promotion Specialist. NHS Time/Date – 8pm-10pm, Tuesday 20th May – the talk will be roughly 1hr including Q&A time so there will also be plenty of time for tea & biscuits and socialising!! Holi Celebrations – Sunday 16th March 2014
This years Holi celebrations will be held jointly with Crawley Mandir on the Sunday the 16th March. The event starts at 7.30pm.
Health Talk and Forum – Sunday 16th March
Specialists and visiting doctors will be giving talks/advice on subjects such as cancer, diabetes and general well being. The event is free to attend and is at 3-5pm Venue to be confirmed

Celebrating Swami Vivekananda, Sun 17th November 2013 @ Portslade Town Hall
This year we are celebrating the 150th Birth anniversary for an inspiring leader – Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902). He was a great Indian saint who promoted religious reform and multi-culturism in India and across the world. His speech at ‘Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago (1893) is considered to be the path-braking and comprehensive word on harmony across religious faiths and multi-culturism. As we celebrate the 150th Birth Anniv of this great messenger of Hinduism and renowned Saint from India, it is time to remember and spread his message and the Cultural, Historical landscape from a 6000 year old civilization that he comes from. We are organising an exhibition on theme “Swami Vivekanada’s life and Contribution of Indian Civilization to the world”.
