Gujarati Cultural Society AGM – 29th March 2015
Time:. 5.30PM to 9PM Venue: Porstlade Town Hall, Victoria Road Portslade BN41 1YF. Snacks will be served after the AGM The present committee wish to encourage younger members to join the GCS committee, who can bring new ideas and move with the times, we also need committee members who can be more active, efficient and work together as a united group. Please attend the AGM and nominate yourself if feel you can bring about better positive changes and take GCS to the next level. The present committee has already implemented the change towards the next level of improvements We would like to encourage all members to attend the AGM meeting and put your points forward for the running of your GCS. We wish to thank all the members, non-members and volunteers in helping the GCS for successfully organising all the events held until now and look forward to their continued support for all future events. March 2014 GCS Brighton AGM Meeting
The AGM was held on 23rd March 2014 at the Swaminarayan Temple, we are pleased to inform you that it went very successfully, with a good turnout of members. We had compliments from the members on the hard work done by the committee members. We had a few new members on board, and had resignations from Mrs Meera Bharadava and Miss Hemali Patel. The following members were elected as office bearers. Election of officials: Mr Dhirajal Lamba, 119 Portland Road, Hove BN5 5DP (01273 735515) re-elected as President. Mr Jignesh Agnihotri, 1 Mill Rise, Brighton BN1 5GD (01273 275710) elected as Vice President. Mr Mahindra Chauhan, 4 Lodge Court,Shoreham-by-Sea BN43 5NU (01273 464139) elected as Secretary with Devesh Patel as Joint Secretary. Mr Pravinchandra Limbachia, 12 Western Road, Hove, BN3 1AH (01273 772955) remain as Treasurer with Joint Treasurer Ramanbhai Shah. Mr Chandrakat Metha as Public Relations,BMECP. Dr Amrut C Shah and Mr Ramanbhai Shah remain as Trustee. Enterainment :Hamirbhai Thakariya. Catering Committee: Manjulaben Shah, Dansukbhai Patel and Hamirbhai Thakariya. Extraordinary General Meeting Announced – 22nd September 2013
Dear Members, At the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) it was proposed and agreed that the new committee should hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to discussed the following points: Is the Society in a position to purchase a building in the near or distant future for the members needs and use with the current restricted fund held in the Society’s account. If NOT, will the Society be able to increase this fund to buy a building for the members needs and use IF (2) is not possible then: (a) All of the restricted fund should be transferred to the General Fund to be spent at the discretion of the Trustees in the furtherance of some particular aspect of the objects of the Charity. Or (b) A portion of the restricted fund should be transferred to the General Fund to be spent at the discretion of the Trustees in the furtherance of some particular aspect of the objects of the Charity. If the members agree to transfer part of the restricted funds, the remainder will be retained as a restricted fund for future Trustees to increase the fund in order to achieve the member’s original aspiration to purchase a property that will satisfy their needs and use. Notice of Meeting NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an Extraordinary General Meeting of the GUJARATI CULTURAL SOCIETY will be held at: [highlight_blue]The Church of the Good Shepherd, Dyke Road, Brighton at 5.00 p.m. on SUNDAY 22 September 2013[/highlight_blue], to transact the following business. Agenda We therefore ask you to consider and vote upon the following resolutions: (A) To transfer the whole of the restricted fund to a general fund to be spent at the discretion of the Trustees in the furtherance of some particular aspect of the objects of the Charity, (B) A portion of the restricted funds should be transferred to the General Fund to be spent at the discretion of the Trustees in the furtherance of some particular aspect of the objects of the Charity. (C) If resolution (B) is agreed then the remainder of the restricted funds will be retained as a restricted fund for future Trustees to increase the fund in order to achieve the member’s original aspiration to purchase a property that will satisfy their needs and use. Proposals and suggestions should be sent to the Secretary by noon 7 days prior to the date of the meeting. A revised agenda will be issued 5 days prior to the meeting on our website: www.gcs-brighton.org.uk It should be remembered that decisions reached at a trustee or members’ meeting are collective decisions and the decision is binding upon all charity trustees and members. It is for this reason that all charity trustees and members are encouraged to participate in all debates.
